The aim of the FI training course, is to train an aircraft licence holder to become an aircraft Flight Instructor FI(A), to the level of competence defined in EASA Part.FCL.920. The content is derived from and in accordance with, the EASA Acceptable Means of Compliance and Guidance Material to Part.FCL.

Normally there will be two students on each course. The intention is to allow each student to “backseat” as an observer, while the other student is undergoing flight training. In the final part of the syllabus, it is permitted for the students to fly together for practice purposes, one acting as a student, the other practicing as an instructor. This is called “mutual” flying.
